Petham Village Hall
- Studios: Architecture
- Client: Kent County Council
- Location: Petham, Kent
- Completed: 2010
This National Lottery funded project sought to replace the existing village hall whilst providing a shop and post office facilities, previously lacking from the village, creating a hub for the community.
Located within a conservation area, consultation was undertaken with the local community, planners and conservation department to create a building whose form is reminiscent of a Kentish farm building using local tradition materials seen elsewhere in the village.
The Hall has been designed to minimise operational costs and be low maintenance; a ground source heat pump provides heating with high levels of insulation and careful orientation encouraging passive solar gain further reducing heating costs, with a natural ventilation strategy utilised.
