LEP Partner, Nick Lee Evans, was delighted to attend the opening of the new kitchen and sound desk at St Mark’s Church, Gillingham, Kent.

The Bishop of Rochester officially opened a new kitchen and matching sound desk during a well-attended Sunday morning service at St Marks Church. Both Labour and Conservative parliamentary candidates were also in attendance, highlighting the community’s strong support for the church’s initiatives.

The new facilities feature a contemporary design, with oak slats outside the kitchen concealing cupboards used by the church-run food bank. In partnership with other churches in Medway and the Trussell Trust, St Mark’s operates a heavily used food bank twice a week. The new kitchen, equipped with a commercial dishwasher, coffee machines, and a large cooker, will provide a vital resource to help manage the food bank initiative, also serving refreshments to food bank users.
