Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Dover Beacon Project Bench Building

A significant milestone has been reached in the landmark Dover Beacon Project with construction now fully underway.

The project team were thrilled to represent L E  P at the official groundbreaking ceremony alongside our partners at Dover District Council, Jenner Group, Atkins Realis, the Ministry of Housing Communities and Local Government, and others.

The project has been a triumph of collaboration, with L E  P delivering a full suite of services covering Architecture, Planning, Heritage Consultancy, and Interiors.

L E  P Partner and Project Lead Liz Gibney said:

We are very proud of being part of such a great collaborative team helping to transform the future of Dover. It is great to add to our portfolio of projects in the town, and we look forward to being part of the next chapter of Dover’s amazing history.

Cllr Kevin Mills, Leader of Dover District Council said:

We are very pleased to see the groundbreaking ceremony take place and to see construction work starting.  This is fantastic news that will provide an incredible boost to Dover and the area, supporting regeneration, providing business and creative spaces, and creating exciting new jobs and access to education, training and skills opportunities for young people.

Martin Sandall, Managing Director of Jenner said:

We are delighted to be appointed to deliver such a flagship building, on our doorstep with a firm commitment to a local supply chain and to giving back to Dover and its surrounding community. The investment made into these new facilities will have such a positively profound impact upon Dover town centre and beyond, and we are proud to play such an instrumental part in this regeneration project.

According to DDC, the Dover Beacon project is set to deliver over £90m of economic benefit, bringing investment to boost jobs, skills and educational opportunities. The new Bench Building is to be the catalyst for future investment in the town and district.

Building work is set to be completed in spring 2026, when the building is to be handed to tenant businesses/organisations for fitting out works.

The groundbreaking ceremony was followed by an opportunity to celebrate and connect with the extended project team, hosted in the Dover smART Project‘s new gallery space directly opposite the site – an exciting part of Dover’s burgeoning creative scene that this project will help to foster and develop.
