Kings Hill Village Centre
- Studios: Architecture
- Client: Rouse Kent
- Location: Kings Hill, West Malling, Kent
- Completed: 2004
A new village in west Kent, Kings Hill provides a sustainable mixed-use development providing a unique environment in which people can live, work, play and study.
Built on a brown field site of a former RAF base, the scheme covers 650 acres.
Challenged with creating a vibrant new heart at the centre of Kings Hill, Liberty Square was designed to reflect the character of a traditional small Kentish town, but in a contemporary manner, which combines local distinctiveness with clean, robust modern details.
The centre provides in interesting mix of restaurants, a pub (‘The Spitfire’), shops and medical facilities, and has been designed to encourage its own ‘café society’.
